Rumtek Monastery, located 24 km from Gangtok is one of the most sacred sites of Buddhism. The golden stupa inside the monastery contains the relics of the 16th Karmapa.
Nathu La Pass, located at an altitude of 14500 ft is a must-visit on a tour to Sikkim. The pass is located on the old silk route and is at the border of India and China. During winters temperature here reach to sub zero levels. Nathu La is located at 56 km from Gangtok and it takes 4 hours by road to reach there. On the way to Nathu La are the two beautiful lakes of Tsogmo and Changu. At Changu Lake you can enjoy the Yak ride. The lake is very popular among honeymooners.
